It could be argued that Candy Goeller Patterns was established 40 years earlier - under a different name: Chris’s Buy & Sell. I grew up watching my father hustle–buying, selling, making deals, and working harder than anyone I knew.
As a self-employed Greek immigrant, he didn’t just run Chris’s Buy & Sell; he lived it. But more than that, he built it on integrity. He was a man of his word and a fixture on the corner of West King & Water Street in Lancaster City. Customers weren’t just transactions; they were friends, neighbors, people he genuinely cared about. He showed me that success wasn’t just about making money—it was about building something that mattered, something people could trust.
I started Candy Goeller Patterns in what turned out to be the last year of my dad’s life. His business was a brick-and-mortar store; mine exists entirely online. But at its core, the model is the same—buying, selling, building something from the ground up.
Looking back on that strange, quiet lockdown era, I like to think of it as the year the family business was passed from father to daughter. We just didn’t realize it at the time. And now, with every order I ship, I’m honoring his legacy in my own way—carrying forward the values he built his business on, one pattern at a time.
